No I didnt resurface the head cause I check it and was still straight as it can be. Why is it important to resurface the head when remove, is it to acheive a certain finish or straightness to seal? If I need to resuface the head every time like some guys suggested the I woulb have remove so much material that the head wont be usable by now. This particular head has been on and off 4-5 times already.
I had a few HG issues but they disappeared once I had the block and head resurfaced and used a new HG (cometic BTW).
They remove so little material that it's almost negligable. Something like a few 100's of a mm. But you need that glass like / mirror finish in order for the MLS gaskets to seal properly it seems. Ask the machine shop to use their finest wheel.
If I were you I'd give that a go with a new cometic HG. It's worth the risk. If it works out great. If it doesn't then you're only down about $150 or so, vs ditching the entire motor when it doens't seem that the sleeve has in fact dropped.
