Nickm, so what ur saying is kelford is going to possibly be building a new cam ?

Not exactly. If he is right and the rocker ratio wasnt quite right there will be some small gains under the valve lift curve. more of a revision than a redesign.
Kelford do/has done custom cams for bigger ve's.

The 184c2-3 cams by Kelford still seem to provide good gains and are still being improved upon. Header and intake design are critical to optimal cam performance IMO but proper tuning of related components can't be stressed enough. Cory's tuner knows his stuff so we can rule that out. If compression checks out scratch that. The 184s have to be properly shimmed since they are not a direct drop in, well known. Process of elimination has me thinking either header (not sure a moderate dent on one runner of the primary can cost 20 hp) or intake flow isn't optimal for the cams to breathe for max power. The combination of both all things considered? We'll see. Hope you get it figured out soon cuz this is a hell of a mystery for all of us in this thread.

Yeah, I really think they should have jumped on the VE stuff way back when Andreas first brought it up to them. They would have sold plenty of cam sets. Especially for how much people were paying for n1's just 3-5 years ago. Upwards of 600 bucks for a set which is more than what jwt charges for any one of their cam sets new. I know the ve's take more work because of the mulitiple lobes but still.

Another thing is they probably would have designed it to be straight drop in with no shimming required. This isnt like a de where you can have the base circle off a bit and not really matter because the lifters will take up the slack. The whole having to shim part although easy to do is just time consuming and a PITA.

JWT's stuff has always been top notch. Even if they would have charged 700/set of ve cams, they could have sold many many sets and Im sure they would have performed being they dont put anything out that hasnt been tested.

well that sucks but its good you know something is up and you know what direction to go in.

like you said its either the hg or the block.

i would have went max for the hg only because they are proven.

Be happy in a way. At least you know where to look into. Hopefully works out for the best!

I would not think a Cometic gasket to be going shitty like that, but if that sucker did, they should do something for you, right? No experience with Customer Service from Cometic.
