My car died... (Fixt!)
Coming from my girls house headed to work this morning... car starts acting wierd. Feels like its running rich. Under anything but low throttle she starts to become erratic. Lots of backfire out the exhaust when I tried to speed up. Eventually as I'm coming up the hill, car start bucking like a prized bull. Loud POP and smoke backfire then she stumbles. Dead.

I look like an idiot on the side of 74 broke down. Phone dies, can't make it to work while waiting.

What I tried:

The fuel pump primes every time i put the key in the on position. The car cranks wonderfully.

Pulling the dizzy cap and checking... Cleaned the rotor off, cleaned the connections. Put back together and start - Nothing

Pulled Spark Plug Wires to see if there was something loose - Nothing

Pulled the Fuel Pump fuse, cranked for a few to maybe clear gas in the cylinders - Nothing

The only thing I can think of is my FPR randomly Died? Or somehow I am getting no spark all of a sudden. I checked my fuel pressure with no squeezing of the vac hose and its at 46psi which is not right. I squeezed the hose and the pressure didn't move. (Although I forgot to try it on the other regulator... I did this on the one on the right now that I think about it).

The car is still on the highway and I'm finding a way to get it to my garage here this evening to see what else I can do. I planned switching out a different distributor and cap to see if that is causing the issues. I haven't had an oppurtunity to check out the plugs as I had no tools when I was stranded.

I'm assuming its a fuel delivery issue or my rotor and cap needs to be replaced... I have a nismo fpr on my DET sitting in the garage. I'm going to try and trade it out with this one and maybe see if that will help. It's definitely rich.

Let me know what yall think.

Fixed the Problem!!!! Broken Connection Post Ignitor but before Coil

It sounds like the car is @ limp mode, one of the reasons could be a damaged ECU or EPROM

Might explain why there is no CEL. I haven't touched that thing at all. It's eprom though and I have a burner. I'll check the connector and see if I can pull codes today.

Why would the ECU just die randomly though? After 7 years of these cars I've never had that happen.

What color were the plugs when you pulled them? It could be a MAF issue, too.

- MAF ground, ECU, or cloggy injectors.
