Thread: sr16ve to 2.0 conversion?

i was told if i throw in a 2.0 crank in my sr16 i would have 12.5 compression is this true? everything ive seen says it would yield over 13. something

to be clear you would need to change the rods also, and i Believe the stock sr16 pistons will yeild somewhere around 13:1 and the N1's around 12.5 but thats just what i've read.

I read anywhere from 13.2-13.5:1. You will have to swap over the 2.0 rods and notch the bottom of the piston for the oil squirters.

Its more than you want to run on pump gas in the US. That's for sure. Unless you have access to 100 octane....

wait are you saying 2.0 crank on 16ve rods and pistons? That one I don't know. Would trust bluerb over whatever I say.

yes to what 13.+ or 12.5 and i was thinking 2.0 crank/rods can you put 1.6 rods on a 2.0 crank i wouldnt know this.

nope the 16ve rods are way to long it just wouldn't work

-Use 2.0 crank and rods
-Notch the 16ve pistons to clear the oil squirters
-Have it tuned an go easy on the timing so you dont blow it up

the compression should be in the 13:1 range and alot of people have done this you just have to not go crazy with the timing to prevent detonation.

or you could use 20ve pistons or n1 pistons just to be safe.

can't i just get a real thick head gasket?

to lower the compression? its possible yeah but where you going to get it? cometic is the only aftermarket ve headgasket i can find online besides the mazworx one and unless im mistaken mazworx isn't doing the ve ones anymore. atleast i cant find them on their site.

maybe you could get a custom one done tho, like 2.0mm or something like that but i think it will only lower the compression just a tad..

really it would be easier to just have 1.0mm shaved off the domes of the pistons to lower compression, would save money an hassle finding a custom gasket lol

thats exactly what i was thinking to do with a little thicker head gasket and cometic will make any bore any size any thickness it says it on their website... thanks for your input so you think shave 1mm on pistons how thick gasket after that?
