damn.. that sucks..

check the fusible links in the engine bay, they are tucked behind the battery in the driver side fenderwell.. boomstickracing just had something similar happen to him. turned out it was one of the links, it would barely make contact sometimes an it would do the same thing, i jump started him an it would fire up it was weird

i was hopin it was the starter

u think bad timing would cause this not on the timing chain but at the dizzy?

i have not timed it yet and im not sure what the timing on a VE is set to the DE was set to 15 but not so sure about the VE.

Timing will not cause this lol, set the dist in the middle an you will atleast be in the safe zone

Those little links in that box have clear tops so you can see if ones bad, kinda like a fuse

main battery wire could be bad if not it could be 12v signal wire that goes from your ignition all the way to starter had this issue before

lol ding ding ding i would look into your grounds man..

where do you have the ground from the battery bolted to?

have you checked/cleaned/tightened your battery terminals?

been working in it all evening and i looked over all my wires and the ground is a new cable going from the battery to the engine block and the chassis right below the battery tray.

the positive wire is new going from the battery to the starter.

took them all off and sanded then down and made sure to put them all back on tight and they all looked fine.

here is where i think the problem is (i hope was now) the positive has 2 white wires one goes to the fusible links and the other one seems to go inside the cabin (maybe) well they connect to the battery post with a red plastic piece. the plastic piece was bolted on the post but it was all ghetto and was not making contact cause the metal piece was all bent to hell. i bought new crimps and cut old wiring that was all frayed and bent connected all the new wiring up and all is making perfect contact now.

i have to wait till tomorrow to see if this was it cause it always does it right after lunch, hahahahahah grrrrr cars know when to break down huh.

i guess it makes sense now as those wires went to the fusible links and one of them was labeled ignition so if this was making shitty contact the starter would not get enough amps.

i really hope this resolves my issues if not i'll......
