the ebay header should be flowing decently, like the others have stated, get a 3" exhaust, and if you dont mind the extra noise/smell, a 3" test pipe. The ecu may be a factor, i suggest getting a NisTune, robert (SER96VSPEC) told me he installed one on his VE'd p10 and he said it was like night and day. What are you using to control your vvl?

he's got a 3" exhaust.. ^^ that wouldn't hold him back tho.. he needs to tune this shit..

yeah, it probably needs a tune if thats the case. like the others have stated above, if he has a stock de ecu, it may be reading the injectors as 259cc, so he may be leaning out on the top end? im not 100% on that... this may be off topic, but my friend had a issue similar to this on his DE, and he cleaned the MAF, and now his car pulls stronger through 4th.

who knows, with out a wideband theres no way of knowing if its to rich or to lean.. each engines different an just cause 1 person might be in the ok afr area on a stock ecu doesn't mean it will be the same for other people..

yeah, i totally agree with everything you just said. what else do you know about his setup? like what injectors is he running?

i only know what he said, an he said he's using ve inj, de maf, de ecu and 3" exhaust

im willing to bet he maybe running lean which REALLY kills the power, not to mention isn't good on the engine..

i ran my g20 with de ecu for some time, now we never really drove the car hard an it rarely saw wot but when i tried it was a DOG, some tuning with nistune got it running like a raped ape.

+1 on running lean, i dyno'd my se-r a few days ago and it ran a little lean towards the top end, as soon as my motor went lean, the power dropped.

i heard g20 ecus are a good upgrade since i believe they use a different fuel map and have no governor, and with nistune, it just brings out the cars full potential.

What's your thinking behind it running lean? The engine has larger injectors than the ecu is programmed for.

how many times have i told this story?
+2 on running lean
when i 1st went ve i was running a jwt ecu/ve injectors and ve maf and had a similar problem. when i switched to the stock b14 ecu/maf the problem disappeared. i then switched to a g20 ecu for the extra revs it gave me. i dynoed and found more peak power and the best overall power band with the g20 ecu/de maf/ve injectors. crank the timing to 22* and you're golden
and yes, i recall having to increase my f/p even with the g20/de maf/ve injectors.
also, put a wide band on it, permanently! i find that when the afr's hit high 12's or richer, its like the secondaries opening up on 4bbl carb...wooosh!
the 2 litre ve's like lots of fuel and a lot more timing than a de. maybe its the better flowing head design.
