Thread: So my flywheel has a quick release...

I have seen a flywheel come off before and this is what happens. The ones I saw the flywheel did not get all chewed up like yours did. Glad to see you got it back together thought. This just reminded me to order arp flywheel bolts.

Installers error right there. You can see how the flywheel has been walking around on the back of the crank and the elongated bolt holes. The other have sheers due to stress.

Either:
1) metal fatigue from overtorque (overtorque can happen if bolt is already stretched)
2) Bolts that have been used 50 times lol.
3) someone forgot to tighten up the bolts!
4) maybe thread was dirty during torque from previous application of loctite. False torque wrench reading - come loose under load conditions.

Pretty much sums it up right there.

Who knows. I drove on it thinking it was a destroyed clutch spring. There wasn't any real noise coming from it that sounded like a serious issue. Pretty much coasting down the highway at 70mph the car felt like it popped out of gear. I do know the bolts were used a countless amount of times, lol. Oh well shit happens. I am trying to source a new set and have everything in the car come Monday. This just gave me a chance to fix an oil leak I had and clean the hell out of the engine bay.

^Hahaha. No time to have the car down. I have less than 3 weeks till school starts and the car goes on the backburner. It has to come out once more to clean up some grudge matches. Tired of hearing how Nissan's are weak all motor. Hopefully there will be new videos on youtube. I'll keep you boys posted.
