The class is G/PRO, it's on the quarter glass. The current record of just under 157 was held by a Cosworth Vega.

PRO class is a production class for coupes and sedans. GT is for 2 seater cars.
The G/GT class record is held by a Miata that just broke the record the day before. I know because I set the last G/GT record with a stock K20 in a Honda Insight.

I'm sure this will wind up being a double post because of the moderating settings, but here goes.

The class the Nissan is in is G/PRO, it's a production class for coupes and sedans. The GT class is for two seaters. The current G/PRO recorder holder at just under 157MPH was a Chevy Cosworth Vega http://www.myrideisme.com/Blog/rare-1976-chevy-cosworth-vega-twin-cam-gets-salty/

The GT class record holder is a Mazda Miata, which just set the record the day before. I know because it beat the Ford EXP record two years ago in G/GT with a stock K20Z3 in a Honda Insight.

Couple of comments about the nose. First off it is for a different class not PRO, probably GALT - Gas Altered. PRO is a production class and doesn't allow changes to the external bodywork. GALT allows aero changes.

From the looks of the nose, they made a common mistake and are making downforce with the design. Look at a lot of the old cars and they use this design. The most forward point of the nose should not be so close to the ground because it deflects too much air over the car and creates both downforce and a larger wake. Both increase drag.

Thanks for clearing that up Brian.

I wonder would an egg with headlights moved to front be a benefit or a drawback areodynamically?

Headlight covers might do the same job. THat is a good question though. I wonder how the recessed headlights effect aerodynamics.

Anyone notice that Vega uses a BJ's Racing IM? I wonder what ever happened with their VE mani's, I haven't heard anything lately.

I think that is awesome. I have been to bonneville a few times. It's like 2 hours away from here. It literally is in the middle of nowhere.

Sometimes you get lucky and the salt is harder than other days. Good track conditions will be a hurdle.

I couldn't imagine doing that in my sentra. But along the freeway there I have hit pretty insane top speeds. Ever see a sentra break 200mph? I think I may have gotten close...playing gran turismo.

What a bummer. P11 gearbox at 8800rpm is only 198mph. So close.

Not bad for an old boy ;D
the gearbox is currently being removed to allow for higher gear ratios and therefore hopefully more speed. he is also competing in the modified class as well,
will try to keep you all posted on updates
