I live in africa. Climate is pretty warm so I'm not installing an oil thermostat. Currently I'm seeing oil temps between 100-120deg celcius. Highway driving seems to increase the temps to nearly 120 - even when just cruising. Same for some spirited pulls to current 7.5k limiter. Still finalising the running in and haven't reved past 7500rpm yet, but I want to ensure oil temps don't get above 110 deg during harsh driving, 9k rpm pulls and drag racing runs.

Just bought a Setrab 13 row series 6 cooler. Figured it's big enough to cool a few degrees and small enough not to overcool the oil. Once it's in I can head off to the dyno and see if she makes power up top.

Will post some feedback.

126°C is usually the "too hot" mark. 120°C is not great, but doable. 110°C might be great, but is probably asking too much? Good luck.

You do filter the oil first.

The outside ports feed each other and the middle pulls clean oil

Outside port on oil housing->filter->Cooler->Middle port on filter->Middle port on oil housing.

SR20GTI-R did you notice anything different after fitting the cooler and relocation kit?

I read somewhere you don't want to mount the filter and cooler much higher than the original filter as it causes extra strain for the pump to circulate the oil to the cooler.

This mod is definitely in my future. I've been contemplating it for some time now. Looks good Jamie.

^^ which one is the filter and which one is the block in that diagram above?

Also, in terms of hoses, what have you guys been using? Do regular hose clamps hold the pressure fine or is it neccessary to invest in push style connectors or crimped on fittings etc?
