RWD VVL, using fwd dizzy as CAS
Can the following work?

Have a s15 rwd sr20 wire loom with cas and cops. Installing a rwd vvl head setup, is it possible to use the half of the fwd dizzy without the rotor cap and brush, as a replacement for the rwd cas?

I am thinking one could match the wiring from the fwd cas and the rwd cas using the fsm. And it hopefully wouldn't be to tall to hit the firewall in the s13

And finally other than the 20v cas, what other setups are available (if any)?

The RWD CAS mounts at a 90 degree angle to the cam. It is quite long. It mounts completely differently. It won't work on a FWD head setup (you claim your VVL head setup is RWD but I think you are mistaken). The 20V CAS is perfect, and is worth the money to do it "right". There is really no other solution for you.

I believe he is talking about a regular FWD dizzy on a FWD VVL head, mounted in a RWD car and removing the cap and rotor to achieve clearance at the firewall. At the same time using the dizzy that's left turning on the cam as a CAS.

I also believe it is possible and will work. I know the local touring car guys ran it that way on their FWD cars in order to run coil packs. Will find a pic.

Here you can see the dizzy being used as a CAS triggering the coil packs. With a blank off plate on the dizzy.

My friend machined down the rwd CAS and used parts from the FWD.

He told me what he did but I forgot the details. I'm sure he kept the rwd cam disc since he is running the stock rwd computer.

@ ben... dont be silly, sr20ve VVL is FWD config'ed, I am attempting to install the FWD head on the RWD block, is that clear enough? Also we all know we can use a 400usd 20v CAS, that takes 2 months shipped from Greg... Sorry if my considerations of alternatives is not "right" enough for you..

@ Doctor G, that is exactly what Im thinking! But would it have enough clearance?

@ RB... what CAS is that? This thought process is so I can reuse the stock wireloom and ecu, so if that works that would be great!

Steve’s Blog Blog Archive Engine is together SR20VE / SR20DET

i documented how to do this....

put the S1X cas disc in the sentra distributor -

I run AEM now - so I did the same thing - just with an AEM CAS disc

Awesome! got any pics of how you cleared the firewall?

The Distributor used on the FWD models is discarded and a CAS from a late model primera 20v or xtrail can be used. Another option is removing the disc from your sr20det cas and putting it into a sentra distributor. Either way the firewall must be clearanced

i cut a hole, made a metal box and welded that into the firewall...

i also work at a large shop - tho so i might think its easier than it is...

I can take pics later that show it -this one is dark
