While I'm here, does anyone know if there are other Nissan plugs that will work on the VE purple/brown (IACV) intake mani solenoids? I don't have these and I know, for instance, you can use a sentra gxe (I think) solenoid to replace a VVL solenoid so I was wondering if I have any options here? I would think there should be a clip/plug that could be substituted??

You will want your intake plenum to be the same size if not a little bigger then your throttle body. If it's a little bigger you can avoid any flow disruptions.

I tried to make them as flush as possible but then added a slight lip to the Intake manifold.

Using a VE TB will also mean no cold start issues, because the throttle stays open for a little bit to let air in. Now RR IACV takes care of this, but not the VE/DE one. On DE's you used to have the Air Regulator with a 90 second timer pretty much.

Yes at the very least the plenum opening should be the same size or even a bit bigger, agreed. Also, your pictures show what I was thinking of doing with my thermoblock spacers as a template. Glad to see it works. I figured I would port my TB to the max which I think is 64mm and then shove a towel in the plenum and smooth away the necessary areas with the thermal spacer as a template. I will have to do it on the car as I don't want to bother with taking the mani off. I would think a non-fluffy towel shoved in there and then a shop vac after would suffice.

Nice pictures too! Looks good!

One thing I did notice when I took my VE TB off was that the fast-idle adjust screw was stopping the throttle plate from opening all the way. This for sure hampered acceleration at WOT. Because of my idle issues I'm guessing I had to over-compensate with the FIA screw and it was adjusted too much...and as per your first picture I noticed this too that the OEM plenum opening doesn't quite match the OEM opening of the throttle body. Yes the step is smooth and round in the plenum but there is a bit off a step there. Weird though.

Mind you I'm using a Lowport Throttle Body for the cruise control wheels.

It will be very had to get all of the find dust out. Plus you wont have much space to smooth everything out. I would remove it and make your life easier. Removing the plenum shouldn't be too hard, unless it hits the firewall .

^ Anybody have any input or thoughts on this? I have tried a few plugs and come close but no luck yet. Nobody has experimented successfully?
