VE project (b12 sentra)
Hi guys Im new in this forum,(been and old member on the other forum)

had been eying on VE's since 2003 until I had a family and chnaged priorities, VE engines landed here around 2008, its better late than never!

I am going to start my VE project soon but I want to make sure I am on the right track with the parts and the tuning.
This project might not cost a lot in U$D but it costs a fortune in Phil peso so I dont want to waste money experimenting on parts.
the engine will be going to my b12 (22 year old car) car will be restored again paint and bodywork before the engine will be dropped in. I will not be usingf the car anymore as an everyday car but will be definitely still a street car.

I am eying on a half-cut n15 Pulsar vzr which was offered to me around 80K ($1800) complete with front and rear brakes and all the engine bay goodies.

I am still undecided if I will go all out or put the parts in a "by stage" basis (opinions and suggestions open)

if its gonna be by stage it will be like this

Stage 1:
Sr16ve
sr16ve cams non N1
sr16ve transmission LSD
Sr20 8 cw crank, rods, (balanced and knife edged) - I dunno how much benefit i wold get from this in terms of revability) costs (25K)
sr16ve pistons (non N1) - will want to try them out as we have 100 octane pump gas)
sr20 girdle
adjustable cam gears to dial the cams (pls suggest a brand and how much they cost)
3 inch intake pipe and filter
custom header, bumper exhaust for Drag racing ( if anyone can send me some specs that I could copy that would be great.)
Fidanza 8.5 lbs flywheel.
custom ecu program (8.5K rev cut)- will be done by a local guy
stock Ve maf
stock TB
370cc DET injectors

Stage 2
bigger cams( N1 or Kelford 184cs) - how much hp is their difference on this setup?
Supertech dual springs and titanium retainers (dunno which part number to get)
bigger intake - Xcessive n1 intake kit (q45 TB) - any other options?is a GTIR quad throttle intake would work??

racing clutch (pls suggest a brand and spec)

lightweight crank pulley - pls suggest a brand

headwork

bigger custom header
bigger MAF? what MAF should i use?
custom ECu tune - 9k or higher rev cut
Walboro 255 pump or another Nissan Oem pump

stage 3-
????

I am planning to dyno the car. sad fact that there are a lot of entrhusiasts here but dont nbother to dyno their car.

I am not using this as a full race car, itll be just for fun. my estimamte is it woud cost mo around 250-300k($5600-7k) which is a lot for a one time.

please send me some inputs comment s and\ suggestions: so I knwo I would be on the right track

Why not go with the Sr20ve then drop in the N1 cams. It be way stronger then the sr16ve.

Why buy some parts only to upgrade later? You can get away with using stock cams, pulleys, ect, then upgrade once you get the money.

like squirlz said..its better to have the funds and get the best upgrades for your ve..i suggest that you go for a nistune,jk tunning or calum ecu..

1800 for the front clip doesnt sound bad at all. That is the route i would take.

that would be another option if I cant get the sr16,

i wanted the 16 stroked to 2.0 and would still say 1600 on its engine number hehehe

the problem is sr20ve dont come with the tranny and closest you can get is an SR18 tranny which are hard t find. the sr16 tranny is still shorter than sr18.

I have the funds already, but I dont have experience yet in engine tuning (just reading forums).
i was just thinking to run the stage 1 and try too see how the car runs in the 1/4 with the stage 1. before upgrading...

macakin's b11 ran a high 12's on slicks with sr16 non n1 cams I want to see if it would run high 12s as well

I havent have 1st hand experience on the custom program of the local guys but he has videos of his work.

he says he could move the VVL points correct fuel maps, raise rev cut elimintate speed limiter, launch control , real time ECU mapping etc...

heres some of his videos

real time mapping

i would go with the sr16 and stroke it to 2.0L right away.

if you have high octane fuel, notch the sr16 pistons and use them with the stock 16ve cams

header, intake, tuned ecu, flywheel and you should be pulling low 13 high 12 in that weight car, with further weight reduction

333cc injectors are ok for stage 1

peace
