Re-tunes are typically 300-400.

yeah, time to find a new tuner. Anyone that has experience with similar software which is used on a lot of different import cars should be able to tune your car pretty easily within 2 hours.

I did my buddies ve on the dyno in one hour. Lets just say hes got no pinging/detonation at all, has gotten about 41mpg, and still makes enough power to put a beating on some turbo hondas and pulled away from my buddies turbo nx2000 although the motor was hurt pretty badly and has been for a year but still ran pretty strong and the ve walked away.

If you were over here i could tune your car on a dynapack in less than an hour, get rid of all the pinging, and probably pick up some power on your current setup. You shouldnt be charged more than about 300 to tune your car. No reason for any more than that.

Most places up this way get about $100-125 an hour just for dyno time, not including tuning.

There is alot of effort involved in setting up and tuning a car. Especially when you may have to correct problems that may exist mechanically that may be throwing the tune off.

I cant tell you the amount of times cars have come in for a tune and I end up spending an hour just correcting simple things before the "tuning" actually starts.

Tuning costs should be application specific, there's no one dollar amount that can be specified for a setup.

Very true, just like the first time I went to the dyno to tune my buddies 200. For some reason with his franklin cams (n1 specs) his car would just go flat on power at about 6500 rpm and you could hear the sound change. Basicly almost sounded as though it was maxed out on revs and floating valves. Tone just went flat. Car made horrible power. Spent an hour and a half on the dyno and no matter what I would do the car just wouldnt make power like it should. Well turns out I find later that his e60 maf was bad and the signal was not coming out stable and causing that issue along with misfires and hesitation above 6500. Switched that out along with repairing the harness with it just to be sure and whalla, crazy power all the way to 9k like it should no misfires, no hesitation, no more flat tone past 6.

Your very right as far as that part goes. I was in the same boat when I went to tune my car. Had issues right off the bat that took a while to really even get started tuning. Wasted about 30 minutes fixing a couple things and also had to wire in my ebc solenoid as i had to purchase it at the shop i was at.

But if a car is running decently on a base tune and there is no mechanical issues stopping it, there should be no reason for more than 300 to tune a calum realtime ecu. Thats when it benifits you to have friends that can do the tuning for you and just pay for the dyno time. Saves a lot of cash for sure.

Agreed.

$250-$350 out the door for a properly running car sounds fair.

Wow. For once I feel good about local tuning prices. We pay about 100 dollars for a tune on an engine managment system. That includes dynotime and it's not charged by the hour.

Haha, that all sounds so cheap what you guys are talking about....here in germany a proper dyno-tune starts @ 800usd and often is over 1000 usd...sometimes the double....

...so if you can get a good tune for around 300 usd....anybody go for it... its well spent money as the tune is so important...
