I can't believe we are making excuses for a 240whp ve. That's about how much air the N1s will move. Impressive actually.

By the look of the a/f ratio i could see why it would be detonating down low, thats a pretty lean a/f ratio for wide open throttle down low even if the a/f ratio is .3 richer than the reading. When I tuned my buddies ve it would detonate/ping heavily from about 2500-4000 until i richened it up as the a/f was about 14:1 in that area then dropped down to 12.9-13.1:1 up top throughout.

Its definitely a good starting platform and definitely a lot of room for improvement. Thats makes it all more fun. If you do everything at once you will never learn which parts work the best and how much each part affects the power.

Good shit Ric, glad to see she finally made it to the dyno. Little more tweaking and the other

new stuff you got coming, she is gonna be a real bad monster!

I know we had to pull a lot of timing on my high comp big bore on the n1 low cam. Not a problem at all once the big cam come in and drops that dynamic CR a lot.

The kelfords low cams a lot bigger to and it allows more timing on the low cam without detonation

what the hell is the lone 7 doing there?

Looks like your runnin quite a bit of timing in the low / mid range.. I will email you my bin if you want an
You can try my timing map or something similar

Yeah but thats under only about 3/4 throttle. His timing looks fine if not even a bit low under the full throttle portion. Again we had the same issue with my buddies ve with n1 cams, The low lobes love to ping under wot not due soo much to timing but to a/f ratio. Bring that a/f down to 13.2 or so in the low range wot and it should clear up the pinging. We found that more benifitial and much more responsive to add more fuel down there than to take away timing. Throttle response was way better down low. I mean it really kicked hard even on the low lobes. Yours should even more so with the bigger motor and higher compression. If i remember right I think once i got it to stop pinging after richening it up the gains were about 10whp 10wtq down low until the high lobes. It was pretty significant.

gonna wait for the header before i put the Kelfords in. call it a "header comparo". then we'll have a basis for a "cam comparo" on this motor
i adjusted the vvl switch points lower. at 4600in/4800ex now. also added .5 bar to the fp. feels stronger to 7k, sotp. now, if i can figure out why its detonating at nearly all throttle settings under 3k i'd feel MUCH better. (someone wanna take a look at my bin?)

with whats on there now, i'm NOT disappointed. my butt dyno was guesstimating ~250/180-190ish before it ever got on the dyno. no BS!
if i wanted more up top i could adjust the gears, but why? i'm not gonna waste dyno$ time adjusting cams that are being replaced anyway

yep, still going to Blue Lake

Stop!! Don't drive the car until you fix the timing map. That's too much timing down low from 1500-3600 rpm and 7-44 tp/load. Go with the base VE from Bin from Calum. Copy the timing from 1000-3600 rpm, then gradually add timing.

Yeah forgot that id still agree even for the half to 3/4 throttle that is way too much timing. I didnt know if you were refering to driving around it was detonating down low with partial to half throttle or under wide open throttle. But yeah that timing in the partial throttle low rpm range is quite a bit. Definitely fix it

i'll reduce it 4-5* more.

what do you guys think of the tp scaling?
