Well thats a new one. lol. Yeah someone definitely fails at installing cams is right. I would double check all the torques on the cam caps and the sprockets if I were you. Someone that leaves a block of wood in there and the zip ties holding the chain to the gears is bound to have jacked something else up.

you are SO lucky that it didn't skip a tooth!! I dropped a piece plastic in sr20jerbans stock DE and a week later it skipped a tooth and valves hit pistons! ooooops!

Consider yourself lucky..and follow Joe's advice.. drop the oil pans and check it out. Then make sure to let the car drip for a day or more before putting it all back together. Then allow the permatex to setup, so you won't have to worry about leaks.. (well this is how it worked for me).

Ya I'm gonna try and check it out in the morning and see what I find. Should be nice cuz it's gonna be almost 120 degrees here tomorrow with the humidex reading. <-- no garage!

I guess I'm lucky that I hadn't yet hooked up the VVL and that I was running on the stock ECU red-lining at 6800....probably saved me cuz had I taken it to 7500 with the high cam switch-over......

This is why I told someone the other day that. Buyin an engine from someone instead of from a
business is a bad idea, never know what the p.o has done

After I calmed down it was the first thing I checked. The intake is either red or orange, it's hard to tell, which means it is a SR20VE or N1 intake cam. But the exhaust cam has what looks like a beige marking which is an SR16VE cam, it doesn't look like the mauve 20VE ex. cam to me....
