It is not a 20 valve Shawn, they just call it a 20V. It has 16 just like the rest of them.

Second thing I'd like to say is that the 4cw crank would probably be the choice to have for a street car that isn't at high revs for long periods of time. Its lighter so more rev happy, which is a fun thing to have for a street car.

The 8cw crank and girdle can be taken from a DE and used on the Sr20ve.

Your math is off.

Lets look at the average 20V price $3000

Sell 20V 6 speed gear box with ( slave cylinder )= $900
Sell 20V header = $400
Sell CAS, coils with pigtails = $400
Sell 20V cams = $400

You are at = $2100

So now you have a 20V for = $900

You see the cost of headers, cams, pullys and so one that you will buy will be the same so now you have a better motor in the 20V.

Lastly the 6 speed 20V trans 4th gear goes up to 109 MPH at 8000 RPMs, so any SER box with a gear change will not compete 1-5th with a 20V and the 20V trans still goes to 174 MPH in 6th, where the SER trans with say 4.785 a $600 FD will go to about 155 MPH or so.

Seriously check your math

Yall for real... How can u ppl compare a moded ve versus the 20v hahahah.... For what yall get in the 20v I say its not far off... The 20v will rape the regular ve all day n twice on the weekend days...

20V advantages over regular SR20VE....


1. 70mm throttle body (60mm on standard SR20VE)
2. full eight-counterweight crank and bottom-end girdle (four on SR20VE so it is lighter but not as balanced therefore not as rev-friendly) Higher revs want balance more than lightweight.
3. 34.3mm inconel valves with 5.5mm valve stems that are cut back from factory to further decrease friction (lighter and less restrictive)
4. Head ports are roughly 1/8-inch taller and wider with a smoother taper and a longer dividing wall. The 20V head flows the most out of any factory Nissan VVL head. It is the creme de la creme of the SR20VE engines.
5. 11.0:1 compression ratio (vs 10.3:1 on normal SR20VE engines)

2. there is no bottom end girdle.
3. no inconel valves, only reserve for the 20VET on the exhaust side
4. the 20V intake ports are no wider than the standard 20VE

Updated the parts that are correct, can I have a copy of the FSM?

Greg Vogel confirmed VET and 20V share same valves.

The girdle is not there but the FSM sure makes it look like there is one. I guess it is a place holder for pistons because the bolts look the same as any other engine.

The port sizes at the head are the same but how they are shaped inside are much different.

The 20V and VET run the same valves 5Speed. This can be checked with G Spec and I have seen both of them myself and they are the same.


The 20V ports are not wider but they are designed much diffrently inside the port

There will never be a surplus of 20V and 20VET engines, period! 20V's were available in only 2 of the P12 line-up for less than a year, and those 2 only represented 5% of the total line-up
I buy a lot of engines in Japan and surely now because there are no more surplus on normal VE engines, those prices are going up as well.
In the past I was offered about 10 engines a month from various suppliers, now I battled to get 7 engines together in 3 months and had to pay way more for them.

That's the same thing i was told by a friend of mine. He says the only way to get these motors is to buy the whole car in a auction which isn't cheap.
