Thread: Downpipe Options

I am looking to replace the blown out exhaust on my NX and am not sure what to do about my manifold setup. I have an SSAC header and DP I bought for my DE years ago before my VE swap but I don't like the way it matches up to the VE. Right now my stock DE manifold is on the VE but as I've the ports do not line up properly. I have a stock VE manifold laying around and recall years ago someone (possibly hotshot) making a downpipe to bolt to the stock VE manifold. Any idea if there is a USDM SR downpipe that will work? It seems the manifold is too long but I cannot find much searching. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

only the 20v mani is worth anything. and you still need a custom dp. if you buy the new ssac with the 2.5 outlet the ports will match.

Ok thanks. I'm not looking for anything crazy or really anything performance oriented at the moment, I'm on a bit of a budget and just care more about getting its road and inspection worthy, I can get the entire stock exhaust downpipe included for less than $250 brand new from work but with the dp out of the picture it would only be around $150 flanged and ready to bolt together.

I assume this is the design you are talking about? These ports will match the VEs?

You can get one for like $60 cheaper on eBay if you look but that's what you want. 90% of the performance and 10% of the price. Unfortunately that's where we're at with SR headers after many years.

The ssac you had and the one in that link is the same one and will be the best for you if you are on a budget. Just gotta port match it if the port don't line up and can be had for cheaper too like Ben said. $250 is way too much for a budget header.

You don't need to port match the header, just drill out/elongate the bottom of the bolt holes on the header where the flange mates to the head. Then you can lift the header and tighten it down, which will make the ports line up (the ve exhaust ports are about 1/8-1/4 inch higher than the de ports)

That's another way of port matching it but I was just generalizing it. I don't see why port lining up and port matching is different.

Its much easier to hog out the holes and just hold it up while you tighten it down imo. The overlap is less than 1/8" so its not a lot. You can fix it pretty easily.
