I think the key to queit is not getting any sort of straight through muffler.. I like how vadim modded his sti muffler

sti muffler is heavy to the point that it impacts your handling imo. Not in a Forester mind you in a Sentra.

Ya but if you can get somethin with a similar design (not a straight through) it would help with the noise I believe

I think it has everything to do with whether you're willing to deal with a loud NA car. If power is what you want, I'm going to say bigger may be better. Realistically it will make very little difference, but when building an NA setup, every little thing counts.

I'm just saying... esp. on a 1.6 the extra sound outweighs the power benefits. I believe the power benefits surely exist for 3" over 2.5" but less than a 2.0 motor. Your own ears can judge the rest.

dont bother with a 3", 2.5 custom is plenty and twil be loud enough, you dont want to be making alot of noise and going no where

Thanks for the replys everyone.

The reason im thinking 3" over 2.5" is that some day I will be stroking to 2liter and I seen a lot of people say 3" is best for that setup.

I have a good size 4-1 header allready and changed from standard cat-back to a 5zigen fireball and felt good gains throughout the revs, this catback is very loud lol.

Noise seems to be what most people are saying so if I got good resonators and backbox installed it would it still be a bad idea?

I don't think it would be that bad of an idea, especially since you plan on upping displacement down the road. With the right setup, 3" can be tolerable, well it is really an opinion on what is tolerable so I shouldn't say that.
