Thread: Buying a sr20ve

nice, nothing like being local and getting to hand pick your VE. I debated on taking a trip to their factory and picking one out.

I live in Shafter, about an hour and a half, two hours from L.A./Soken Trade Corp. I convinced my friend to go and pick it up; we managed to fit the engine in the back of his EG hatch. He's worried about the VVL, and we're installing it tomorrow. Hopefully doesn't take us more than two days. Anyone mind helping :P?

We got mine done in a day and a half and that was taking out the old and putting in the new.

Good, I have a buddy who's done some engine swaps so hopefully we can settle it soon, I have to go to work in two days, hence the 48 hour deadline.

lol you wont get it done in 2 days if you havent atleast done 1 vvl swap before

an you better have EVERYTHING you need before you attempt this, finding out you dont have enough money or cant get the part needed for a few days sucks!

If you know what your doing and have done them before or know what needs to be done and have experience pulling SR's you can do the swap in one day in about 10-12 hours or less. When youve done enough of them they become second nature. I can have a fully equipped sr out of the bay in about 45min to an hour especially with help and thats using hand tools. Then its just a matter of transfering parts, wiring up the vvl solenoids and putting the thing back together and in the bay and put whatever management you have in whether thats a chipped ecu or stock ecu with safc. Again it all depends on what route you are going.

Most people that havent done them before usually spend a couple days or a whole weekend doing the swap and yeah like he said thats having everything you need in order and on hand or attainable from a parts store.

yeah, i've only done like 4 vvl swaps an a few de swaps and even now i still forget a few things, usualy just hose clamps or other minor things but its totally second nature by now.

i do still take my time tho, 2 days is my comfortable swap time, allowing me to take smoke breaks an safety breaks maybe have a few drinks LOL

Goodluck man took me about a day to do my swap since i already had my DE pulled out a week before.

Well I got stuck removing my DE, but all we need to do is remove the intake manifold to reach two transmission bolts in the back. Then we can swap in the VE, but I'm nervous about the wiring. Any local help would be appreciated with beer

remove the intake manifold?¿?¿?¿ sounds like you guys have absolutely no business doing a swap imo.


the only bolts on the back side are 2 17mm bolts and then like 3 14mm bolts that attatch the trans bracket to the trans.. no need for taking the intake manifold off, Hell actually no need to do ANY of that, just drop the damn motor an trans together!!!!!

you guys REALLY should do some research, because when your shits not working out your going to be on here making threads an shit for simple stuff that you should of researched before doing ANYTHING
