Nice info nizmo!

i have the 4.78fd in my sr16ve box using 195/50r15s i would be about 7000rpm in 4th with a trap of 100mph, there is alot of talk about going from 3rd to 4th and losing speed but has anyone thought about 1st gear, the se-r box would be way easier to launch then the sr16 box, my car is very hard to launch wit the short 1st gear, street tyres are a no go

Yes now you realize why the DE box is better. Longer 1-3 and same 4th as the sr16. Easier off the line better traction and lessrpm drop between gears. I run the 4.785fd in my DE trans and works very well with my set up, finishing around 8.2k with 22in slicks.. A 5.0 would work better bit this does ok. With the new motor this ye itwill work even better.

cory, how is day DD on that setup, (gearbox likewise).
My 4.785 FD just arrived today and Im interesting in how the DD would be affected...
The thing is that my car is a DD and Im wondering how the DD would be.
Its an N/A DET with bolt ons revving to 7.8K (I hope to put on a VVL when I can get out of some debts I have, thats why I bought that FD)...

Right now I have a P11 gearbox from when I was boosted and 3rd and 4th feels just too long...

grand, sits a bit higher cruising on the motorway but nothing crazy, my car used to be at 140k at 4k revs, now it sits at 130k

true but the de boxes dont come with an lsd, so it would have worked out alot more expensive for me if i had to buy a de box, lsd and the 4.7 rather then just fitting the 4.7 to my box, plus with some semi slicks she gets off the line no problem, was gettin 2.0 second 60 ft times, and thats on an old runway which is the only kind of drag strip we have in ireland
