Thread: All motor ve total timing

What kind of total timing are you guys pulling on your ve tunes at wot....curious cause I'm running steady at 28 degrees total with base at 15 degrees....going to the dyno to tweak the tune since I haven't messed with it since I swapped from sr16 to n1 cams....

28 its good for peak torque rpm but you are looking from 32-36 at peak power rpm depending on your setup... All this its for stock compression motor and noooo nossss....

Cool thanks for the input...yep I got a stock motor,just bolt ons and n1 cams...I'm on a 75 shot too but that's gonna be on a separate tuned map...was trying to get more input for all motor thanks....

wouldn't octane have a say in what timing 20ve is tuned to?

thats where mine was with N1's and most bolt-ons. ~34* iirc.

let me ask you guys a question with out going to far off topic here..

recently i went to the dyno and i made 180whp / 143wtq SAE on a Dynojet

i was actually making less power when i first got on the dyno with the timing map at 35 an i forget what in the midrange.. anyways i had to lower it down to 29 at the top in order to make more power..

stock ve except for n1 cams, I/H/E running 92oct

what do you guys think could be the issue? maybe the distributor?

i had no issues with keeping the afr steady or anything like that.. runnin 13.0-13.1 @ wot

Yes that is very common a lot of ppl are runing around still thinking more timing equals more power. This couldn't be more false. That's why you did it right go to the dyno and see what your motor and sey up like... I'm just saying typically mid 30s is what most of the set ups I've seen like. Ofcourse there are always exceptions..

most of my dyno work has seen peak power at 28-29 degrees, 10 base.

Pushing more to 30+ only brough on loss of torque and knock effect and higher temps!

These dynos have all been on 13+ CR motors - 2100cc or under.
