hmm weird. mined leak oil and it didnt work. i was running a single cam vtak

it doesn't affect anything, you would just have a little oil leak. im guessing that solenoid couldn't stand the oil pressure so oil went up the socket, well in my case my exhaust solenoid didnt work.

i thought my new one was leaking oil but it turns it was the plug that still had oil dripping down on the socket. so that solenoid is bone dry n i have been driving it for a while today. although the one on the pic leaked oil and the exhaust solenoid did not work

The problem with the oil is when it makes it way up the connection point between the solenoids pin and harness plug. The solenoids will not get power, therefore not working. It will be intermittent.

I have the same issue, I just cleaned up the oil from the plug to keep it working.

its a common problem, i had this problem in my previous 20ve and 16ve engines...need to replace it as your solenoid wont work at time, terminals could be shorting out due to its oil soaked condition...or maybe not...lolz but surely il replace it.
