Thread: sr20ve selenoids wiring!!!

hey guys please help me out to wire this stuff here it what i got:

(2)msd 8950:

and this its what i wanna do:

white from msd to tach (on 200sx its the blue one rigth?)
blak from msd to chasis ground
red from msd to switched 12+v power.
yelow from msd to negative of the selenoids ( negatives are the 2 wires of the same colors? or diferents color)
and the other 2 wires from selenoids to 12+V (direct to baterie)

on my 97 B14 i've been chasing an intermittent problem with cam solenoids sometimes working, usually not. and when they did work they only worked for a few hundred rpm.
after doing some "SEARCHING", i found that billc had what sounded very similar to my problem, although on a B13.
i was using the blue wire from the distributor (large plug) for the rpm signal to the msd 8969's. using the fsm i found that pin 3 from the ecu supplies a signal for the tach. i traced the orange/blue wire from pin 3 to the back of the gauge cluster and stripped a ~ 1/2 inch length of insulation. i soldered a length of wire from there to the white (msd input) wire and now all is good.
i hope this helps anyone who's been experiencing similar problems.

I put a 5 amp fuse between the solenoids and battery when I had vtak.

so basicly my doubt its, if im rigth on the selenoids wires? 2 of same color are gdn's and difrents colors positive's? thanks

yep. they're just solenoids. it doesn't matter which is + or -.

Can you hook up the 8969 signal wire to somewhere on the distributor or the coil?
