i swapped out the maf. i'll unplug it and get back to ya. afr's not too bad for a cold engine @ 1500rpm.

thanks,

This what you need to do, take off your intake manifold and break it in with the stock one.Run your stock Ve injectors til full break-in. It will eliminate any vacuum issues, then you can worry about maf issues. I recommend breaking these motors in as stock as possible, without any upgraded parts. Then you gradually add your intake cams,etc...

Thats what i did with no issues what so ever.

1. unplugging the maf and the engine dies instantly.
2. with the engine idling at 1300-1400 rpm (foot off the pedal) afr's are ~13.6-14.8 (varying). if i try to take it to 2k rpm and hold it, for example, it will rev up/down continuously on its own from ~2500rpm down to ~1500rpm. with the afr's changing with the revs, rich/lean to the point of 13.6 to 21.5 lean.
3. not possible to use my oem manifold. but, the lower half flange IS being used to hold the oem rail and sti injectors on the custom mani. this setup had been running fine with the 333cc's and initially with the sti's. all new silicone vacuum lines.
the walbro IS NOW suspect! maybe the sti's made the walbro work a little bit and it took a dump i'll change the filter 1st though.
whats a recommended high quality fp these days? oem? aeromotive?

thanks guys,

Go straight to the pump don't waste your time with filters etc. Check voltage at the pump too.

Please reread this...

Why cant you use a stock intake manifold?

And check the pump... The aeromotive is a nice pump and/or the walbro will work fine for what your using it for.

You should be able to track down the problem fairly easy

can't use the stock mani because we cut the lower flange off to use with the custom runners. the stock plenum will not bolt up in place of the custom plenum. BTW, anyone need a stock ve plenum?
went to pick up the Forte @ the tinting/clear bra joint and got to talking with the owner. he's a car nut that's doing a frame off restoration on a OLD chevy p/u. he's also guessing the fuel pump.
locally, autozone wants $136+tax for a 170lph f/p F___THAT!

Thanks,
