One more thing, my VE just threw a rod and I am blaming the half counter weight stock crank, but i don't know for sure until I tear it down.
So there is more to valve springs to get a reliable 9k motor.
i wouldnt blame the ve crank. your not the only one reving to 9k with a stock ve crank. i cant think of any other ve cranked guys throwing rods all motor....
either way sucks, but i deff wouldnt blame the crank.
get spring and retainers.
it really depends on the power and how fast the rpms climb.
after a dyno session this past weekend we learned even n1 cams can float valves at lower rpms then we thought before. 7700 rpm it started floating and bleeding power off.
stratton.
