It's all that damn compression... Which I don't get why nissan just doesn't utilize the VE over here. I mean that K series is in everything... and they play with deeper bore and cam switch points, and compression (redlines too) for so many vehicles from the accord to RSX-S to the turbo SUV they have. The VE would have so much support if Nissan did. Tit for tat we'd be right there with em literally.

The main advantage with the K series is the length of the rod used and the ability to dial from 0-50 degrees on their cam gear. Simular to VTC on the S14.

That is interesting... I wasn't aware of that.

I guess I've still got some sandin my crack since the 20v never made it here... Granted SR20 is older technology... you would think making good power with smaller displacement and mass producing a motor like you are saying would be the money maker nowadays with gas being ridiculous and all. I was suprised with how many K series motors their actually are. I guess everything is market driven... and I can't blame Nissan.

Could you imagine if they sold a stroke version of the 20v and put it in minivans or something? We would be raiding junkyards looking for quests like whoa.

I guess the other hand is the we have the advantage on motor prices because of this... spending 3k + on a stock used n/a motor is a lot compared to paying 1k and below. So there is a plus. That and I like the fact that we have to work to stomp the competition

I can get whole EP3 Type-R for that kind of money... but all markets are different and varies. Also VE are dirt cheap these days and its easy to make cheap N/A power.

he must have gotten a baseline before he hit the bottle on the dyno.

im guessing, and dont take this the wrong way, it made no where near the 236 claimed stock bottom and top whp he claimed it orginally made.

i knew the moment i saw the title that it wasnt true, i dont care how freshly rebuilt etc etc was done to the motor, just not gonna happen.

but i am curious to know what it did actually make. id say in the 208-212 whp range.

stratton.
