Thread: holding it....

ive seen quite a few graph that climb nicely but when they hit (for example) 7200 rpm they start to drop of...some faster than others... n then there are the ones that hold that power untill a 8500 red line n beyond. question is how does one get there graph to hold it power?

someone correct me if im wrong but from what ive heard, stock cams in the VE only hold power up to around 7200ish. once u drop N1's in there, the power goes all the way up to 8500. like i said this is info i heard from a friend so someone correct me if im wrong.

Play with cam gears to shift the power band out or in.

mk well thats what i was told. so by changing the cam gears how much more pwr can u get out of the top end?

watching my graph i can see the power holding until 8k but after that start going down with stock cams the power depends on the timing setup and maybe header and the bolt-ons.

The power band of an all motor car depends on a bunch of things.

Most importantly being cams, header design, and intake manifold design.

It isn't generally one part that is going to shift your power band drastically unless you pair all the other parts with it to support a higher revving engine.

For example, you can have a car with bigger cams but has a 2 inch collector on the header. The header will kill top end power even though you have the bigger cams in it.

So it is all about the combination of parts on/in the engine.
