sr16ve N1 to 2.0 liter
Hi lads new to the site from ireland.

Im planning to stroke my n1 to 2.0L
Planning to purchase a sr20de fwd engine this week for the crank and rods etc.

Im hoping to base my build on one done in Greece a few years ago with different pistons for lower compression because of the fuel over here and to have a reliable build.

What is your opinion on this list?

SR20ve Pistons
Stock N1 valve-train
20V/VET metal headgasket (1.6mm vs 1.2mm for sr16/20ve one)
New rings
Complete gasket kit
New head bolts
New chain, guides etc
Stock N1 crank pulley
SR20de Crank
Sr20de Rods
ACL bearings

I have no experience building engines so this is all new to me. Is that list good for a build or can it be improved. Remember please that i want a
reliable build, not going for anything crazy.

Could i use the 1.2mm head gasket or would cr be too high for 95 ron fuel??

Also are those rods strong enough for high rpm??

all opinions and ideas very much appreciated as need all the help i can get .

Keep the N1 pistons for more compression and bonuses of coatings etc. Also perhaps look at using DET Rods as they are beefier.
Autech had a great build thread if you care to search for it.

do it the simple way. take a sr20ve bottom and bolt your n1 head on with VET head gasket. done simple and should work with 93 oct gas. use all oem studs etc no need for aftermarket stuff here.

What he said. I would just use the stock 20ve bottom and stick with the 4CW crank. Put some fresh rings on the N1 pistons and slide them in. I'm not sure if they need to be modified for oil squirters. Even if they do its no big deal. It should make for a quick, fun, reliable setup.

its a sr20de not ve bottom end im getting. cant get a 20ve over here. thats why just using the crank and mybe rods and putting them in the N1 engine.

Would n1pistons not be too high compression because N1 head is skimmed from factory. Serious risk of det no?

I seen a very similar build with N1 pistons and compression was 13:1 which is too high for our fuel.

Im just going on what Ive seen on another similar build thread, dont know anything myself. Thats why I came on here .

u can notch the relief 1mm n use the metal head gasket.... but if u dont want to do this then i would say use the 20ve piston n the non metal head gasket....

Thanks for the replys everyone .

It sounds simpler to use the 20ve pistons.
Is there a way of calculating compression ratio?
I had been thinking of using the 1.2mm head gasket as not to loose as much compression but dont know how to calculate it.

Is it recommended to use ACL bearings and new head studs?

I want the build as reliable as possible, am i missing anything on my list?

think i may have to notch the skirting of the n1 pistons too....to clear squirters

From what i have read you do have to notch n1 pistons.
