Thread: 88mm VE Build

Sounds like a nice build. Hope to see it make good dyno and 1/4 numbers. I'm curious to see how the meth kit works. I remember your bro and I talked about it a while back but never looked into it. Cool.

Seems like the 88mm build will become popular jajajajaja I still believe that A 88mm motor can produce same amount of power than at least a 90mm motor without the sleeves thats $1200 less to spend on power making parts jejejejeje

88mm and some compression sounds like a cheap alternative to the 90mm builds...wouldn't 88mm yield almost 2.1 liters....

This is not all the way true cory.

A SR16VE piston is 13.5 to 1 at 86 mm. When you go up to 88 mm you will gain another .4-.6 in compression. Thats 13.9-14.1 . Every 1mm in piston size is good for .2-3 compression raise depending on the size of the head combustion chamber.

Just asking how an 88mm motor can produse the same amount of power as a 90mm motor.

If everything is the same and you have a 88mm motor vs a 90mm motor The 90mm motor will make an average of 15-20 WHP more than the 88mm motor.

Its simple a motor is an air pump and with larger pistons it just moves more air everything being the same

88mm motor will still produce decent numbers i believe with a full port job,kelford cams and 4-1 custom header

2.0-2.1 liter hondas make 220-250 whp all the time

no one is saying it wont make decent numbers just will not makes as much as a 90mm motor because of the obvious.

a 2.1L 88mm VE motor with Kelfords should make 235-245 WHP


2.0L = 220-230 86mm x 86mm
2.1L = 235-245 88mm x 86mm
2.2L = 245-260 90mm x 86mm
2.3L = 260-275 92mm x 86mm

Well I've been dealing with cp for the last few weeks trying to get a high cr piston and they said they are una ble to get me anything above 13.5:1... but like you say. Its true when u increase bor or stroke for that matter cr will increase with the same size crown.. so why are they telling me they can only get 13.5:1... My 12.5:1 pistons have very very little extra room for a dome because of the angle of the valve reliefs..... what am I missing

At least fur us here in PR the can get the machine work a lot cheaper than in the US but cant get the sleeve install same price as u over there that doesnt have to deal with additional shipping charges...
