Thread: sr20ve timing help

i install my sr16 cams yesterday on the chain there is #marks and on the cam gear there are mark my friend told me my timing is out because the yellow mark and the mark on the cam gear do not line up is this true but y car was driving for years like this

The coloured link on the chain and the cam gear dot will only line up once every few hundred rotations (could be more or less, but it won't line up every time the chain passes)
