cruise, distributor and iacv question
i just bought lancesr20 car, i remember seeing a thread somewhere about putting cruise control on a vvl and i cant seem to find it, can someone point me in the right direction? i want to get that working fast
.
also p05050 iacv code is coming up, (idle dips down when i put a/c or headlights on, im guessing its just dirty) is the iacv on a vvl the same as the regular sr20de one (i have a spare one of them for a de), is it the same gasket too?
.
how much are vvl distributors? there is a b14 on there now and its leaking oil inside the cap, I sent a message to miko yesterday but no answer yet

as for the distributor you may just need some new o-rings.. or just another b14 dizzy.. an ve's seem to have alot of iacv issues so good luck there

for cruize you'll need to run a de throtle body ve doesn't have provision for extra cable, which has differnt ports for the coolant so you'll have to just loop it and not run coolant through the tb or get two step down hose connectors.

you'll also need a bracket to hold the extra cable on the intake manifold. i modified some random brakcets to make it work then i got the overkill thing and had to modify the crap out of that to make it work.

i've seen someone using a factory lowport bracket not sure how well that mounts up.

as far as aiv i have not had an issue with the ve one even in the cold. keep in mind with the dizzy and the aiv switching from jdm to usdm you need to re-wire some stuff.

So I would be better off just cleaning the iacv, I'm just worried about the gasket it looks pretty brittle, I'm guessing greg v can get it
.
I have a spare b14 distributor but lance told me I might want to look into a ve one, wiring is not a problem, I believe its the internal o-ring that is not replaceable
.
Is the de throttle body smaller? I don't have any calipers to measure it at the moment, I think I've read somewhere that someone switched the cable holder from a de throttle body to the ve one, Ill have to find it again

the TB's are the same size.. and cleaning the iacv an replacing the gasket may help.. i really wish we could all figure out Exactly what to do to make our cars idle right, cold and warm..

as for the distributor i see no real point in going an getting a ve dizzy and wiring it in.. better off not touching the wiring "IMO"

I sent an email to greg v for a price on an o-ring and a gasket, I guess I'll just notch out my spare b14 distributor
