thanks guys. as much as i still would like to go back to a stock ve with bolt ons i have way to much into this to turn back. it would be impossible to recoupe what ive put in.
motor has been disassembled. we know what failed, were still curious to as why did it fail.
things are at the machine shope getting mic'd, checked and made sure they are in 100% shape to be re-used.
only things need to be replaced is obviously bearings this time im going to go with calico coated race bearings instead of the acl race ones i used last time. replacing all bearings although all bearing but #3 were ok. all rods but #3 as it was broken in half, all pistons but 3# because it has a notch on the bottom were the broken rod hit it. it wasnt an oil issue, oil pump seems fine and all other bearings are good. so as to what caused it is still in the air...
so as of right now, sleeves are ordered, a block has been located, have to get it sleeved by the machine ive used or one that a buddy has used. then as long as the other parts are ok, one piston and one rod must be ordered. new oil pump because its been milled down twice and is too short to be re-used on the new block. new head gasket, head studs.
i will be using a different header this time, shorter runners, smaller tubing with a smaller choke 2.5 this time and see how that works.
whatever the issue was must have been an issue on the dyno although it wasnt seen, but it failed on the way home no more then 20 miles. it could have sucked power from the motor by a large or small ammount, i dont know, but either way im sure it affected the power output. i am guessing that by going with this different design header (the one i offer to you guys) i can pick up some more hp. only time and dyno testing will tell.
by the end of this week all parts will be fully checked and new parts will be ordered.
so hopefully within the next two to three weeks parts will come rolling in and i can start assembling the motor once agian.
stratton.
