I'm hoping and praying it had nothing to do with low oil pressure as a result of the chain oil squirter popping out of the block. I don't know why but something is telling me that the cause is related to lack of oil to bearing issues.

Honestly, just take your time to determine the cause of the failure. You'll figure it out. Enjoy school and your fiancee and life in general. It's a new day, and the car will wait for you as long as you want.

NEver experienced this, but is there a pre-emptive remedy for that problem? (while I have my motor apart...)

A few of us around here and on the old forum have experienced in in the last few years. Not sure if it's heat related or not, but I'm assuming oil temps had something to do with it.

If you can take the oil squirter and rotate it with easy with pliers or vise grips, it can have the potential to become dislodged.

The only remedy thus far has been to remove it, clean the hole it is pressed into, clean the squirter, and use loctite red when re-installing.

The problem is that you won't notice the problem at first. The chain will start to make noise from improper lubrication (sounds like it's hitting the non existant chainguide), and as temps come up the oil pressure drops to dangerously low pressures. After driving non-stop for an hour or two, oil pressures dropped to around 10~15psi at idle.

Sorry for the OT post Rich.

Sorry this happened Stratton, I was really hoping it would work for you this time. Take a break, let the dust settle, focus on what is truly important. Come back and pick up where you left off at.

Ask Miko what exactly he had done for us on his block before making assumptions.

This does suck, kinda followed a little bit of the progress, was hoping for the best. Oiling could've played a factor in it, improper bearing clearances, or even not properly torqued rod bolts also. Not putting the blame on anyone, just observing what could've caused this.

Screw that name and shame!

You tell us what he did.

People went out on a limb and said your block was a failure you have the right to tell your side

Also asking as I am genuinely interested

No one blamed Mazworx. Its not a Mazworx block. And like I said Mazworx has revised the sleeving process since Miko had that sleeve drop

Oil temps are a big factor with these larger cranks...

Playing with the few 2.4's here we have found oil temps to raise quickly after 1 or 2 hard runs. Even just steady cruising on the highway, oil temps are much higher than the standard crank. With a larger crank and our girdle the extra windage is not working in our favor.

Oil cooler is a must in my honest opinion. I am curious to know what the oil temps were on the dyno and on the street.

We can go on forever trying to figure the causes. Just take care of the important things and jump back when its time.

I was just thinking of the piston oil squirter you knocked off that one VE a few years back. I believe that was the shop's error. But that motor died a similar very quick and horrible death.

Sorry about your motor Rich.

iirc the oil temps were about 200 or so possibly a bit lower. it had a brand new oil pump from greg v on it.

this wasnt a mazworx block so no fingers from me or my camp or pointed towards your or your company.

only thing from maz that i did use was the head gasket, wich clearly wasnt an issue.

guys, the car is being brought back to the shop today. the motor will be removed and my car brought back to my house due to not having space at the shop, plus it doesnt really need to be there for the time it takes to do whatever we are going to do.

i have the option to walk away from this with a clean slate or dive back into it and rebuild.

im unsure as what path to take. my heart says rebuild, my mind says park the shell, concentrait on school in a few years come back fresh with a better salary and go harder.

i dont want to be beaten agian, but i also dont want the stress and the worry in the back of my mind everytime i drive the car that something random just may happen.

stratton.
