I'd go with a complete VE man. VE motors are cheap now and you get a better oil pump, oil squirters, and a lighter 4CW crank that will yield a little more power than the 8CW/girdle setup with your DE. You will have to run an external oil feed to get oil to the solenoids for vvl. Either way you will be around the same price range once all is said and done. Get a complete VE motor and sell off your DE parts.

but with the de pistons and ve head, wont the compression be a bit higher hence more power?
well guess it depends on the cr of the de lower half too
4cwt vs 8vwt again. guess we getting into which one more balanced and such like... again

No Boost, No Bottle, Just my 70mm Throttle... 98 Lucino JJ...13.6 @ 99mph
I wouldn't fear the 4cw. Guys worry about them being unstable. We have had plenty of guys whose motors live at 9K. I personally was revving mine to 9K everyday. It has seen the track multiple times, beat to hell on the street, and lost count of how many dyno passes. I also was a nitrous whore and sprayed many bottles through my motor. I used a Gspec pully and it lasted a long time. I had no rev limiter and the motor has been taken over 10K when a misshift would happen. I wouldn't worry about the balance issue. Get some fresh bearings for the motor and call it good.

If it wasn't for Jamie, i'd probably be on a sc6262. That was until he took me for a ride in one of his cars and I saw the tach read 9K+! The stock VE bottom is perfect. Freshen the bitch up and I wouldn't worry at all. Shit, my VE was actually a sludge motor and it lasted through all the abuse haha.
