If you want a lopey idle just set the selenoids to a 12v source... the stock cams sounds like s4 and the n1s are so lopey its hard to drive under 5k lol

anyways sorry ill stay out of this thread

no, don't stay out!! shit.. lol

is this something I could wire to a switch? or would I have to make it a perm modification? I do NOT understand how the solenoids activate and deactivate, i just know that they do when they oil pressure is at a certain level, which usually indicates a particular RPM.. or is it strickly based on the RPM detected by a sensor?

if I could wire a switch to the solenoids to deactivate them one minute, and reactivate them another... say i have my son with me.. he's 7. He would appreciate the lopey idle.. I flip it off .. let my car rumble about..

then I have my girl friend with me, she's not in the mood, so I turn it back on..

THIS would be friggin fabulous, but something tells me the mechanics behind it wouldn't prove reliable.

I know that thread jacking and side convo's within threads are universally frowned upon, but if its any consolation I have gathered alot of knowledges from the last few pages of your discussion.

Thx!

i was looking at that thread, and I think it would be easier to read if they put the data in a chart form or something..

from the first couple of posts, it seems that the DE was flowing better.. or maybe I have no clue how to read it.

I'd like to see these heads tested in the same facility on the same day by the same person with the same equipment.

It has nothing to do w the oil pressure reaching a level... there are two selenoids.. one pre each cam atleast on the 2.0ve. When these selenoids receive power, or ground they let oil in and the middle pad on the rocker that follows the middle lobe on the cam is locked. And then you are now running on the high lobe.. the reason we have the selenoids set per rpm swithc is so we can activate the cams at the exact point wheere they actually make more power then the low lobes... so you could always run a switch instead of or in adition to a switch.. I honestly don't know if this could do any harm, not sure how much oil pressure it usses or if there is any possible issues because the lash is set on the low lobes and so when your running on just the high cam idk if there would be any ill effects.

This thread was totally jacked! It's cool though. I'm learning as well and enjoying the back and forth bickering.

vqman...you want lopey idle? just set the switch points way down low. for instance, with the msd 8969's set the s/p @ 1k, your idle @ ~1100-1200 and there you go. lumpier than shieet idle.

get some Franklin Stage4 cams and don't degree them and u will have a lopey idle and still have VVL. Or the Kelfords which I can't remember the grind.

No offense but this is such a dumbass topic.

Degree the cams in right, set the cam trigger at the correct rpm.

Stratton.

Wow!

How can this be a dumbass topic? I personally have learned quite a bit from it. I know the OP, a little anyway, met him and bought some parts off of him and hope to hang with him soon. Pretty sure he was just trying to do something cool on the cheap just like most of us want to as in real life we all dont have money to burn on our cars and want to get the most out of what we have.

I also know vqman as well, helped him on his car a few times, his knowledge of the b13 platform has helped me alot, pretty sure he's just trying to expand his knowledge on the subject matter.
