Lighten Flywheel for VVL?
What would you guys recommend as a good weight flywheel to use on a stock sr20ve engine? What's the pro's and con's of using a lighten flywheel?

Any flywheel for the DE will work on the VE. Fidanza is what I use -- it's about 9 pounds. There is a minor adjustment needed to driving style to avoid stalling when you start from a dead stop. This is not a big deal. The benefits are faster acceleration, especially in the lower gears, and easier rev matching when down shifting. The change is noticeable and maybe even dramatic.

This has been covered in many past posts - search for details and other thoughts.

Light weight flywheel for a bolt on VE is a must have mod IMHO. Even a SR16 wheel is a great mod.

Fidanza here too same weight as Billc's. U can replace the friction center of the flywheel when u need too for $50-60.

I could tell the difference right away with the amount of throttle I had to use to start moving vs my old DE flywheel. Also the rev matching is also way easier with the down shifts with a lighter flywheel.

^^^ Agreed. Have a Fidanza since '03 on the VE and was one of the best mods on the car without question.

I also use Findanza flywheels they work very well and for about 45 dollars you can replace the center friction disk so you can reuse the flywheel over and over.

get the fidanza. that helped me shaved fraction of second from my 1/4 mile time.

didnt have to adjust my driving style re: moving off, stalling etc, but car does rev up and acceleration way faster (and i had the sr16ve flywheel which was way already lighter than s20de)

the down side to it is that i used to get 242kmh top end, I am now getting about 235kmh

oh, if you get the fidanza, plz remember to count the bolt holes (or take pic and save it) so whenever you are ordering the friction plate you know which one you need.

peace
