I would rather spend the money on a pair of Kelfords and use the stock rods and either one of those pistons if your plans are 100% NA.

this ^^^ kelfords ftw and its about 13.6:1 with sr16 pistons

Wouldn't that be to much for pump gas?

Thats why guys machine the tops down. You could also opt for a thicker head gasket to lower the CR. Another alternative are the N1 pistons.

What's the cr with n1's? Isn't around 12:8?

- I would go with the CP's because they are forged, but I wouldn't consider them a budget because they do cost about $500-$600. I would go with Manley rods as well, but I like to try and do things once. That way if I want to put some 'smack' on the motor, it's already geared up for it.

Yea.. That was my first thought.. Although if I got sr16's and kelfords it'll have more power.

Wouldn't the lightened pistons and rods help the motor rev faster? Would you lose torque?

- In other words, it's not idea to do a cheap VE budget build these days lol.

THIS IS BUDGET TO ME

1.) Stock compression/bottom end sr20ve
2.) Stock VE head with N1's on stock cam gears straight up
3.) SSAC header
4.) 2.5" full exhaust system
5.) GregV 2 piece pulley set
6.) OEM clutch kit/Mabye B15 disk
7.) E60 MAF
8.) BOMZ ebay intake kit
9.) Calum basic ECU
10.) Lightweight flywheel
11.) Drive!

^This is a clean cookie cutter setup. Should make 185-200WHP give or take on a healthy VE motor.

And even that set up can do 200whp. Throw a nice header and tune into the mix and look for 210+

What header would you recommend?
