Nah, I think he just had the E-Manage to tinker with. He uses a modded, non-RT VE ECU. But yea, I was wondering the same thing about the timing. He said it was 5 degrees...

That's alright, but still he can connect the e-manage to change timing up top, via TPS % only but that should be enough for WOT dyno tuning.

ok, some more info on this...

even with the chipped VE ecu, he had chosen to use the emanage to tune up the car, which the tuner did on the day, and their plans were to have the emanage to switch cams at the same time etc..

but unfortunately thats where they hit problems, with the emanage hooked up they couldn't switch cams, tried various things, in the end from what I understand they gave up on the emanage switching the cams, so just cut the wires on the harness that relate to this, and thus left the cam switching to the ecu, and the AFR and timing done via the emanage...

the 5 degrees he mentions is the base timing, ignition timing etc from what I understand was done with the emanage...

but with the tuner not being able to move cam switch points, he could only do so much with the mapping..

switch the cams at 6200 RPMs

Andreas where do you suggest switching on stock cams?? Sorry for the off topic post.

Unless they changed the grind on the cam it didn't seem anymore aggressive than the normal N1's on the dyno. Switch them both @ 6k and add some more timing to your map or just bump it global by advancing the dizzy to 10deg or even 15 deg as long as your not pinging down low. I think u will ping down low tho with a global advance that far up.

4600-4700, really depends on your header etc.

Emanage blue to control VVL solenoid...

You can use the Vtec function on Emanage Blue which sends out 12V signal but instead of directly shooting this 12V signal to the VE solenoids you have to shoot it through a 'relay' which has to be also be connected with the 'ground' wire from the solenoids and grounded to the chasis somewhere.

VE Solenoids needs 'ground' signal to make them click.

When i used the Emanage Blue to control VVL the relay i used looked something like this

Now just using a daughter board though. G'luck

Is the emanage tuned? did you bother to tweak the timing with it or just left timing to the VE ECU? Also, the E-Manage could switch the VVL too, both at the same time, so you can change your switch point.

Work with what you have now, then if no good, sell and get a Nistune

That's the plan for now.

Oh and for my research:

If i'm using the VE harness like it is now, what changes would we have to made to it to make an DE ECU work?
