how can I tell N1 cams
How can I tell if the cams in the car I just bought are N1? I've done some searching and it seems that lobe measurement is the only sure fire way, and I'm not sure how to do that. I'm hoping I can pull the valve cover to look at a stamp on a cam or something no?...will I need to replace the valve cover gasket if I pull the valve cover? Sorry to be so ignorant, I just am very curious and want to be sure they are, and don't want to screw anything up or make more work for myself tomorrow. Thanks for your time and patience.

Search my posts with key words measure and cams, you will find the threads with lobe measurements in mm using a caliper.

You can tell by looking although I've seen a few ve cams so ymmv. Go check some pics and get a caliper its easy to measure with the vc off.

The N1s have much broader rounded shoulders for long duration and they will almost certainly have way lower miles than the engine they are in. The regular 16VE cams look pointier.
