What oil filter do you use?
I'm having trouble with blowing the seal off on my oil filters. This has happened twice now once at night last year (almost ran it out of oil because it was so dark and could not see the cloud behind my car). I thought maybe it was a fluck, thinking it was a bad oil filter. The second time it happened I was at a HPDE track event 3-weeks ago, just finished my first run when I parked my car and I noticed a puddle of fluid (oil) under the car. I'm using a Nissan oil filter #15208-65f0c. What does everyone else run and what is the part number as well. Thanks

Purolator PureONE PL14612

Bad ass filters, imho. I feel a great weight difference when I changed them and that alone lets me know it is working. That and my oil became smoother (yes, I play with my oil like a child when I change it) when I would rub it between fingers. I ran the regular Nissan OEM filter for the lifetime of me owning the car.

The color never changed but I did not expect it to. I paid $5 a pop from Amazon when they had a good deal. I dunno what they cost now. I will be purchasing some in the next two months.

I use WIX on all my sr20 cars that I have owned and just so you know. The new Nissan filters ending in C are for Made in China.

I'm sure I get it tight enough and the oil filter comes pre-greased. Normally I would lube it with oil like I do all my other cars, but there is no way with the grease on the seal. I will try some of the oil filters everyone of you that are mentioning what they use. Hopefully this stops my seal blowing out of the oil filter and solves the problem! Thanks everyone

The first time was it after a HDPE event? Or had that filter been used during a HDPE event?

umm
stay away from the chinese made crap? they are here to destroy us, AND our motors
i've never heard of this problem in the 13 yrs of owning sr20's. there have been ppl using the WRONG filter. most of the problems have been from ppl using b14 filters on b13's or vice versa. they DO have different threads! one will thread on just fine, but when pressure builds the filter will blow completely off the motor!
i've used mainly oem filters, but have also used a lot of wix, purolator and napa gold.
