Cracked tensioner
Anyone ever have a tensioner crack on them? Aside from skipping teeth. What other effects can this have on the timing events? I decided to go through some of head parts yesterday after removing the head from the motor last Thurdays and I found that the timing chain tensioner has a crack in it. Now Im wondering if this had anything to do with bending some valves on my 20v head. I checked the links on the chain before removing the head and all marks lined up just like they should there for skipping teeth can be ruled out.

One dude on our forum had this, major chain rattle, so removed the tensioner to find out it had cracked as below.
Think about it... having slack in the chain could in theory let the cam timing go all over the place!!

the N1 tensioners just protrude into the engine a bit more than standard
