I don't think its out of the question. I made 220 with a 2.0 and this was with a untouched head and n1 cams. Also this was on 93oct.

Add some nice headwork and 184cs 230whp should not be out of the question.

I'm not saying ots childsplay and its not easy either but its nothing out of the question. It is fairy attainable. I wish I still had my 2.0 set up so I could run the kelfords in it and see what they can do along with some headwork...

^^^^ That car could not back up the 230whp with a time slip and made much less power on a different Dyno period.....
And btw I talked with Kesi about it back then and I am putting down facts not unrealistic thougths...

Cory, you miss out on a key point to this debate about making 230whp engine. Payu and myself both have problem with people stating 230 whp was done and attainable with a STOCK intake manifold.

Could you have gotten 230 whp without your custom intake manifold?

Making 230 whp at 7500 rpm is wishful thinking because that is where the stock intake manifold will peak.

Stratton.

Stratton could you give us names and dyno charts to back this up?

I was replying to the original topic of this thread. They did include a custom manifold in their list..

Also I do know people who have made almost 220 on stock mani so now add headwork into the mix... not to mention geos friend who made 212 on a basically stock internal ve. Now with cr and headwork why not 230...

But I'm done. I don't want to get wraped up into all this bench racing....

Kesi made 220 whp 6 years ago, jamal made 230whp two years ago, zipstrips car should hit that if not better when he retunes. Search the threads are still around.

I agree ive never been one to bench race.

As for the.non believers know this i will be building a stock sleeve stock intake mani over the winter wich will disprove alot incorrect notions.

Jamal never made 230 that was a majic triangle lol. Iirc he made 210 once they got on a real dyno

No offense to you, but you kno, that graph was funky.

Honestly i dont remember that, i do remember it was on a dynopack. I believe you, so scratch jamal off the list.

Jamal had a 87mm bore 2.1 liter motor and got 230 on the infamous triangle dynapack. Kesi numbers are from the same dyno, with same triangle at peak hp.

So, who else do you have in mind that made 230whp on a stock intake manifold?

To make 230whp on a stock intake manifold you have to be pushing somewhere in the mid to high 90% range of Volumetric efficiency.

I have a ported and cleaned up intake mani - and it cannot provide the engine with enough air up top. I am only running SR16 Camshafts, and the engine drops into vacuum from about 6k onwards.
