shims, and tolerances
so im shimming my head with N1 spec cams.. exhaust is just fine there all
>0.2mm and <0.5mm which is apparently spot on..

does anyone have the full factory specs for inlet and exhaust when cold?

now for shims RR shims look like they fit so once i have got my sizes i can order them from my local nissan but i heard that harley davidson shims fit.. from which model/engine? as there is a harley dealer next to nissan so if nissan are going to be ages ill try harley.

thanks in advance

ooh good lad ian, i was just about to look for an answer to this.

so >0.2mm and <0.5mm is shim clearance, whats the +/- for shims on same rocker arm? have to be really close right?

wezz mentioned the figures 0.14 and 0.17mm on phone the other day, that was from rough memory though

WTF did you grind?

These parts are only case hardened. So if you ground through the case hardening, the part will wear fast.

shims what else lol.. on one side.. nissan dont have any stock for ages they said months.. but i know the sizes i need now i had a full set of old shim that i ground but the VE ones i took out are way to thick, they dont let the valves shut so its not that i can work with them being abit slack.... so if they do wear i will get proper ones on order use these for now then swap them out when the new ones arrive, its not a hard job swapping them..

Man don't know what advice to give you... IMO putting the ground side down (custom face on valve stem) will most likely make it where you won't have any issues, BUT then you can also never see if you do.

Would you use a grinder to machine a disc rotor too?

haha wow yes because taking 1mm of steel off a shim is the same as grinding a cast iron brake disc..

seriously i knew people would be abit man thats gheto but wow

the hardend side is face up.. the valves now close and there all within 0.05mm of the factory fsm..
