I've been planning to do this with my next p10. Modded for circuit use, and great gas mileage. Charles told me the sr16 will make power up to 11,000 rpms with the right parts. He said the VVL motor was originally designed as a 1.6L motor and they just adapted the 86mm crank to the motor. Like how the n1 cams arent tuned for a 2.0 engine they were designed for a shorter stroke, longer rod.

I think good cams, custom tuned header, ems that can allow you to rev high, valve springs, and n1 manifold or itb's should be at least 200whp. Quality parts recommended.

I thought he want a drag car. Ok, now it make sense but still i will say something - he need to focus more on weight reduction, gears + lsd, suspension, brakes AND most important - his driving skills. Engine isnt most important part and a lot people are forgeting this.

I think he can start with stock engine and do important stuff at first. Then build engine.

in 2006 I have raced on the stock sr16ve (vz-r) non n1.
yes. sr16 is a waste of money.
first of all I will try it on the drag among b16 ang 4age. no k20 and b18, k20/b16 hybrids are allowed.
my aim is not to cheat or scare someone on the dark street. I want to make a wolf in the sheeps coat, the pure race stock-looking engine.
As I have already told, I'm building a gtir now, and crazy sr16ve is only my fantasy. It will be my second project in futher future. I want share my opinion and gather your thoughts about it.

n1 - is a "cast" engine. It pulls to 9k.
I think that sr16 can rev to 11k too. All we need is the lightweight rods and pistons.

Maybe I will have to reduce weight on the sr16 crank. Don't know exactly either I have to lighten it or leave it 8cw to leave system more stable.

n1 cams are 288. kelford or franklin cams are 290 and 300. so they can pull further, I think. maybe they will pull to 10k.

I cannot use "opened" ITBs. Only stock looking. I also think that n1 intake manifold will be the best. I can use any standalone EMS.

I think that the better stock gearbox will be the p12 sr20ve gearbox with custom or phantomsgrip lsd. The final drive is 4.7 and the gears are closer.

Added lightweight cam gears and pulleys, electric water pump.

13:1 is TOO high for pump gas anyway

will the water injection save me?

Yes it will.

Stratton.

you want to use water/meth 50/50 combo to run high comp on pump gas. water alone will not raise the octane of your fuel.

but if its a race car why run it on pump gas?

I'm going to run 14:1 on my 20ve on racegas or e85 (depends on what class rules are by then as over here they are starting to phase out leaded race gas)
With franklin or kelfords dynamic CR will be less than most guys running 12.5 with n1's

class limitation of the 1600cc is a pump gas.

thats a pretty good reason then
