Muffler advice.
Hi team,

probably been asked fifteen hundred times before, but...

What options are there for a decent 3" rear muffler that flows, yet allows the car to fly 'under the noise radar'?

After using a 3" Magnaflow muffler on the rear (5 * 11 oval) for a while (maybe 6-months), was nice, till lately.

Reason for the question is that the guts have literally fallen out of the muffler on the car, and Magnaflow aren't interested in any warranty claims at all.
RATHER UN-impressed about this, always thought that by buying quality there was always the back-up that went with it...

Any help greatly appreciated.

I bought a Vibrant off ebay (not sure if you talked to Dean about that) that hasn't been used a whole lot yet but seems ok. He said it was louder than yours and I have a cat. How did the packing come out, did it come through the holes in the perforated internals or what?

etc...etc....

I love that last one.

Here's a good VE 3-inch exhaust clip provided by Eggman:

He's using a Vibrant Stealth Muffler,3" inlet/outlet.

On my DE, I have an old first gen SSAC (smaller secondaries), feeding an O.E.M. set-up which includes a Magnaflow 18" resonator and a Vibrant Stealth Muffler, 2.5 piping.

Sounds terrific. Cops passing my right on by. Although I have not been "on it" around a LEO, they sure don't pay any attention to me while cruising.

Cheers for the info, and the 'reminder' about using the search button.

TBH it was more for a rant at Magnaflow, and their lack of any solid after sales assistance.

Difficult to do much about jumping up and down at the e-mails; we all know that the people we deal with via e-mails aren't the decision makers.

Unsure what has happened to it? Was working fine, for a while.
It now rattles like a hollow tin-can, most unpleasant.

What was involved in sourcing the Vibrant muffler?

I just re-did my exhaust from the cat back.

I did a lot of reading, and came up with two (2) very solid, very popular exhaust choices. Magnaflow and Vibrant.

The impression I got, was that Vibrant "seemed to be" the "quiet-er" choice.

I'm ancient, and absolutely did not want some "ricer sounding or loud-ass" exhaust. I prefer to be relatively stealthy about the performance of my Classic. Don't need nor want any attention from LEO's or stop-light boy-racers whatsoever.

My new exhaust sounds fantastic. I'll get sound clips in the next week or so, I have to leave town for a few days. Granted it is a DE, but Eggman provided that video clip of the 3" VE exhaust already.

You could also look at this thread, simply for the knowledge and/or the links.

A bunch of those for B14....also offered B13 exhausts. And while Kyle and I went 2.5", there was also applications for 3" exhausts.

Wicked, well done!

The same here with 'attention'; "walk quietly, though with a big stick" always been a moto to subscribe to.

After researching before the purchase the Magnaflow was the one to have.
After only 5 - 6months after it was installed it's DEAD, the real surprise was the lack of interest in trying to sort out the warranty with Magnaflow, as they have lots of feedback.

Looks like the Vibrant is the weapon of choice.

Now to source one...

I just bought it from dohcgarage on ebay. I looked at all the suppliers including murrays speed shop who took over from go fast depot but he wouldn't ship usps, only fedex or ups which costs more so ebay was cheapest overall.

What about retailers closer, like AU?
