The pistons are JE, huge valve reliefs. but I am running sr20ve cams, not sr16ve cams. I have a lot of room to play with cam timing before I even come close to touching valves.

Just a little food for thought all the VE-T cars we have built all used 2.0 cams and the cam gears were always set at zero.

One of them was just shy of 500 whp and the other was over 500 whp.

That is fine and dandy, had they timed the cams they would have prolly had a better curve and more power up top! lol!

yeah my bet is on the cam overlap, the ve cams have alot of overlap.

another thing to look at is most B series hondas with that size of turbo. their cams are switching hella high and the fact that they are reving it out to 9k + rpms. hence why they need a big turbo that can still make more power with high revs. Almost every turbo honda ive seen is set up to rev way out. They make alot of hp but then again the tq is usually hurting. I dont think its a matter of the cams switching too low, although it wouldnt hurt you probably to raise the activation but you need to take some overlap out of the cams and rev it out more if you arnt already.

how much boost and what turbo/mani setup?

I have a feeling the gt3076r is too small for the ve to flow what it was meant to for a turbo app. Bigger turbo=exponentially better results. a gt35r may be the min needed to make over 500whp without changing the gears. I must have a serious reversion problem if my cams LOSE power.

The VE is revving to a safe limit of 7500rpm. I could go higher, but it would need springs or the sr16 cams. I want to see about making the best use of the stock cams. The cam switch didn't make any power anywhere in the rev range, not even up top, at least when both cams were switching anyway.

I want to have a quick spooling street/road race car that has a smooth power curve with tons of power on tap. If I can maximize the rpm and turbo to push out tons of torque and make the 500whp target at 7k before power falls off then I will have accomplished everything I wanted to.

I don't feel the need to rev really high with the p11 transmission. If I rev to 9k then 2nd would get me to like 80mph and 3rd would get me to 110+.

I want a torque monster. so I can start breaking different stuff.

1st one had a equal length love fab manifold with a t3t4 and it was at about 22 psi and the 2nd one had a pro-tech unequal length with a SC-61 at about 25 psi.

Be careful what you wish for.
(I had stock cam gears before, stock timing. I got some cam gears to help take out some overlap, but is this necessary? Should I upgrade the housing to a .82 ar to improve flow and reduce backpressure?)

Recommend 0 the cams, switch over the cams between 5200 & 5800 rpm (If you have not already done so) and see if you still have that problem. Take a look at the fuel ratio at the point where you have the power loss. My 2cts.
What size exhaust?

i very nice think that you an sustain the 7500rpm rev limit, however going with a big turbo is always going to prolong full boost, which means it kinda pushes back the full boost up the rpm range. but i don't think you will have a problem with not reving over 7500rpm unless your setup is built for higher revs past your 7500rpm limit, which will suck becuase then you will need to rebuild accordingly
