Sir, where is your proof of this?

This car like appears as if it lacks low end power to you?

Back to the original question, I really dont think you lose any low end power with N1 cams vs stock 20ve cams.

Peace

Geo knows his stuff and he is right.. Yes they do have a weaker low end then the 2.0 cams or n1 cams... not by huge margins but enough.

Not saying the SR20ve cams are not better than the SR16ve on the low lobe - based on specs - but to say CRAPPY, well...

I have driven with both using the same motor and chassis and I didnt feel the difference on the low lobe.

Here is the comparison

SR20VE
Intake cam
Low lobe: 8.4mm lift @ 220 duration
Low lobe center angle: 110deg
High lobe:10.7mm lift @ 264 duration
High lobe center angle: 104deg

Exhaust cam
Low lobe: 6.6 mm lift @ 244 duration
Low lobe center angle: 122deg
High lobe:10.34 mm lift @ 268 duration
High lobe center angle: 114 deg

SR16VE
Intake cam
Low Intake Duration: 200
Low Intake Lift: 7.1
Low Intake Center Angle: 100

Low Lobe Center Angle: 111
Low Overlap: 0

High Intake Duration: 280
High Intake Lift: 11.1
High Intake Center Angle: 100

High Lobe Center Angle: 105
High Overlap: 70

Exhaust cam
Low Exhaust Duration: 244
Low Exhaust Lift: 7.95
Low Exhaust Center Angle:122

High Exhaust Duration: 280
High Exhaust Lift: 11.1
High Exhaust Center Angle:110

Peace

This....

And as far as proof Gio has spent countless hours on tuning VE cars on the dyno both on boost and NA and he is 100% correct.

The biggest difference in the low end is in the 20V cams. The bottom end of those cams is real nice. When my dude Lance was NA for a short time he was running 20V cams and I ran the SR16 cams he would move off on me very hard but, then on the big end I would pull back.

Yeah I've never got a chance to run them. It would be nice to see a back to back dyno w n1s vs the 20v cam. Still haven't seen one.

N-1
This is great stuff...thanks again everyone.
Is this why went I read about activation points for VVls equipped with n-1s, I notice higher transfer points like somewhere between 5000rpms and 5900 rpms instead of 4800-5000 ?

Yes usually n1s are switched smoother at a higher rpm. Mine went from 4.8k w 16 cams to 5.4k. It also depends a lot on the header. But the high cam is so much larger it looses power when switched to early.
