going ve-t need some suggestions
so the engine in my lil bros p10 finally blew, 177k with about 15k miles of boosted time on it. we decided to just buy a ve and slap all the stuff over from the de-t setup he had. i do have a couple questions though, ecu wise. should we shoot to get the ecu retuned? it had a calum basic on it. Or will the same ecu work and only need like an afc or something of the sort to fine tune it? will the stock p10 maf handle the hp? were not planning on going past stock boost. and the final question is, if we dont actually start the solenoid activation till a while after we boost the engine, will that be bad?

all comments and suggestions are welcome.

What turbo setup are you trying to swap over? T25? T28? Something else?
What is stock boost for the setup?

whats the setup. I would get the ecu re-tuned no matter what. I would upgrade the maf since you will need a re-tune any way and the stock maf is only good to 250-290whp depending on the housing bore.

grab a nistune and solve all ur issues. more info is needed, set- up, goals bla bla bla... kinda. Regarding the activation of the vvl, a t25 will run out of power quick(had this issue) t28 will be fine, i would recommend a gt28rs or bigger and nice big injectors, strong clutch and the rest follows

good luck

Its a t25 avenir setup, 370s, stock maf, calum basic. Not really looking for high numbers, somewhere around 260hp. Looking more towards reliable daily driver on 7psi ve-t

You will destroy a T25 on a VE engine running 7 psi is my guess.

How will you destroy a t25 on a ve w 7psi??

You will see good midrange power with the t25 but a t25 on a ve is really really pointless. VE's love to rev out and breath up top and this includes on the exhaust side and having a small t25 in the way of that is only gonna hinder the topend.

You wont really see any advantage with the t25 on a ve vs a t25 on a DE. You might make a bit more midrange power and torque which isnt that useful really but topend power will be right about the same because your restricting the ve's capability to flow.

The smallest turbo i would ever run on it is a t28, Thats becaue they can keep up with the high rpm's of the ve.

On a de the t25 makes peak power at 6700-6800 from what ive seen and starts falling fast after that. The t28 will make peak power closer to 7400-7500 so it can keep up with the ve's topend.

You will kill topend power with the ve and it will only cause heat and problems and you definetly dont want to have any problem with detonation on a ve with the thinner ring lands.
