I would butt dyno with the exhaust retarded about 2 degrees and the intake at zero. I have five cars that have made the most with that setting(ssac header-with 2.0 cams,sr16 cams and n1 cams). ???so when you are retarding the exhaust cam are your correcting the distributor by advancing it some physically and not just by the ecu right.

Cool, I will try that.

From graph it looks like power/tq is climbing nicely but around 5700rpm it looks like its shut off high cams or something...

Yeah you are right, what are you using to turn on and off the vvl?
and if you get on the dyno again you should disconnect the solenoids to se if you make the same power. just an idea.

Using Greddy MSS

do you have a picture of your engine bay, more specifically your distributor? Also, MAKE SURE your MSS is configured correctly, it looks like your cams are activating, then de-activating looking at the chart. If the MSS has one of the perimeters set incorrectly, it can easily be deactivating cams at odd times and what not.

Maybe only the intake is activating... Can you hear an audibly louder exhaust note after cam switch?

^scratch what I said about the cams de-activating, it doesn't LOOK like they are activating at 5k at all. No change in the graph until about 5700. Cams have to be activating because ~170 with out cams is un heard of unless only one is coming on but like I said, double check the configuration. Make sure all Perimeters are where they should be. and get me some pics of the bay.
