Say no to stinky people ahha

Upgrade your cooling system properly as well as add an oil cooler and your ve will be reliable as they come on the track.

Right on thank you, hopefully source everything today to get next week and installed by next weekend

^Yes, but this was based on doing multiple spirit runs back to back. I guess my reply was a bit off topic from doing real road course runs. I agree, a oil cooler would be better for that.

when im at the drag strip i leave the vet open, they make ya roll the windows up an it does get pretty hot inside pretty quick, but at the end of the 1/4 i roll down the windows lol, i do believe it helps keep the engine a tad cooler, but not much..

Just to be clear, the interior heating does not pull any heat from the engine bay at all. It uses a "heater core" which is really a mini radiator that has coolant routed through it from the engine. Therefore it effectively works as an auxiliary radiator that is neither efficient or dependable.

At any rate, HP10T you sound like you are taking care of the problem, and I look forward to hearing your temperature's after your install. Cheers to you for waiting to race and making sure your motor is safe and reliable!

I'm sure you have discovered this by now but if not, a few members on here have already compiled their own oil cooler setups with links, prices, and impressions. Might help with your install and all.

Beat me to it. Seems like an emergency-only band-aid for an overall cooling issue.

We have all sorts of access to appropriate radiator upgrades, from NX2K, GTIR, and then Mishimoto and Koyo, etc... Upgraded slim fans, maybe a shroud of some sort.

And.....an oil cooler.

I want my overall cooling system to be able to handle hot-laps, on a hot-day, with headroom in the system. Not running at the ragged edge with the heater on.

I am adding a oil cooler on top of my koyo rad to keep things in check. high oil temps lead to bearing failure. Also venting heat into the cabin is a last resort. I have had to do this in a emergency situation and it was not a fun drive home.

Im sorry to get this sidetracked but its on a related subject...
what about the contrary...?
I heard that if the oil temperature is a bit "cold" its not good either, I wanted to install an oil cooler on my DET and someone told me that it cant be something too big or the oil will not reach the normal operating temperature and that can cause me trouble (he recomended me to get the 4AGE hachi gts one)... Is that true? I thought of oil cooler since my turbo is only oil cooled... my car is daily driven short distances, and I dont circuit race it, I 1/4 mile race it...

They sell the sandwich adapters that have thermostats in them.

Definitely I hope to get some temps logged to post up the results for everyone to hopefully learn from. The only downside is that it is not looking like I will be making it to the Lap Battle this weekend. I still need too much stuff for the car to get it ready and don't want to rush it .

I have put over 1000 track miles (4-7.5K rpm non stop) last season, running 30+ minute sessions with my oil temperatures at 260 deg F without any problems (the compression tests came out great).

This season (before I mounted the oil cooler) I ran two track days with 270 deg F, I did maybe 4 10 minute sessions at that temp, but no problems.

This was all on German Castrol (GC).

With 19 row oil cooler I am at 240 deg F.
